Title: "The Devils Playthings"

Comment : The Devil has his playthings. There is Adam, Eve, the Apple, and his tool the snake. This is a fully functional, glazed, high-fired (2300f.) stoneware jug. I built him a pair of pants to serve as a stand making him a good sized sculpture (29" tall) as well. The base is of recycled materials welded and painted. There is a bicycle sprocket some round steel stock and some fence parts. The tail is a key for my sprinkler system that I ran over with the lawnmower. The stand is sturdy and the jug fits down inside it about 3". He can be displayed with or without the stand.

The Jug: He is hand turned on the wheel from stoneware clay . The people and the snake are hand built. The hooves and Apple stopper are wheel thrown, glazed stoneware. The glazes came out really nice. My Washita River slip and ash glaze over red is spectacular. The insides of my jugs are always glazed with food safe, lead free glazes. He is high fired and fully functional.

Size: He's a large. He stands about 291/2" tall, to the top of the jug . And about 9 " ear to ear. The jug is 13" tall by its self.

Medium: Clay, glaze and recycled steel.

Materials and process: Hand-thrown and sculpted clay , and high fire glaze and steel .
