Title: " Senor Caliente"
Diablo de los Chiles

Comment : All over the Southwest, this time of year, communities large and small celebrate the harvest of the Chile pepper. There are Chile Festivals with Chile parades and Chile queens. Chales are roasted and consumed in a hundred different dishes hot and mild.

The small town of Hatch New Mexico will swell from a few thousand people to more than thirty thousand to celebrate the pungent and fiery Chile. Norteno music will be played and cowboy bands will perform. The Chile laden food will be washed down with Dos equis beer, salty Margaritas, good old Budweiser and Coca Cola.

Ristras of dried red challis will be sold by the road from dusty pickups in Tucson and from upscale shops in Santa Fe. They will find their way to boutique markets in Beverly Hills and ethnic markets in Albuquerque.
They will adorn fine homes featured in magazines and kitchens in much more modest dwellings all over the Southwest.

The Jug:" Senor Caliente" is my tribute to the Chiles be they red, green, yellow or shades between, Hot, very hot or mild and smoky.
If Chiles had a diety it would have to be a devil. Only a devil could conjure up enough heat to portray the Chile well.
