Title: " The
Devils Steam Powered Robot"
There was so much evil to be done in the world that the devil couldn't keep up
with it all by himself. The legion of lesser demons couldn't be trusted to carry
out the Devils orders so he cooked up a batch of robots to do his bidding. The
thing that the devil has in abundance is heat so he made them steam powered.
little devil has lots of detail from his riveted base to his trident antenna (so
he can get his orders direct from old Beelzebub himself ) . The only parts on
him that aren't clay are the antenna and the glass eye. There is lots of detail
. Notice the rivets screws and even countersunk screws on the bezel around his
mouth . The tip of his nose looks to be worn smooth. Probably from sticking it
into others peoples business so often. He
was all hand-thrown and sculpted. Then he was glazed with a metallic, grungy ,bronze/black
lava glaze with some extra copper thrown in. He was high-fired. Then refired twice
with metallic lusters to accentuate the old weathered robot look. The inside is
glazed with a lead-free, food safe glaze. He is the second in a series of "Steampunk"
robot jugs I have in the works. Check back for more.
I spent the last 7 years
doing junk sculpture so this guy is kind of a natural extension of that process
except he is made of clay pieces instead of metal.
stands 16" tall to the tops of his antennaand is 10" wide. He is made
of high-fire stoneware and the glaze is handmade by me and is food safe and lead
and process: Hand thrown and sculpted stoneware, and high fire glaze. Refired
for luster glazes.
